Yup, it's October 29th and it's been snowing here all morning! Seriously, this picture just seems odd, huh?
We ventured out for about 45 minutes. It's COLD! And, this snow is really, really wet. Even Emma was ready to go in, thank God! Just because I can't resist:
Isn't she cute!? Okay, back to business.
It was so nice and very unusual to spend the whole morning at home just being able to clean and organize and play. I have no plans to leave the house at all today. I think I've already explained my love/hate relationship with relaxation. I want to relax, I loooonnngggg to relax, but it's just hard for me. I finally realized that I was stressing myself out worrying about relaxing. So, I got to work. I like neatness and order in my house, without it, I feel stressed. (yes, I feel stressed a lot) This was the perfect morning to tackle the toy problem in my house along with figuring out what to do with some extra furniture. Hmmmm, an extra antique dresser that I LOVE, too many toys, what's a girl to do? Here's what I did:
Thats right! I'm keeping this beautiful antique dresser that I have slaved over for the last month. It's the perfect answer for my storage needs, it gets that awful huge pink/white Little Tikes toybox out of my sunroom, and will serve as a great buffet to serve food on for Thanksgiving and other get togethers. Look how nice it looks here:
Who would ever know it's stocked full o' toys? It's just a perfect example to think outside of the box when it comes to organization and the use of old furniture. It suits OUR needs and that's what is important when decorating or organizing your home. My mind races with ideas like this. How cool would it be to have a playroom with a big dresser painted some great kid colors to store all the toys? You can pick up a quality dresser from any thrift store for usually around $40. Just paint it up and it's now become a toybox! Or, you could just contact me and I can do it for you! :)

My first post on my new blog with a small DIY project
I was having a really hard time following my old website and it really wasn't very user friendly. I've decided to make a switch and am still slowly testing it out and changing it. I thought I'd start with a short DIY project I did. This idea is all over blogland, so I can't take credit for it (although I'd love to!).
I found this twin size headboard at Goodwill a while ago. It was literally hidden by pile of metal bed frames. And, best of all, it was $5. How could I resist? I knew I didn't need a bed but decided to try out the idea of a chalkboard/coatrack for my entryway. Yes, I really do redo things and actually keep them for myself!
I dragged out my husbands power saw, or whatever it is you call it, and cut off the legs so they were even with the actual board part. I then sanded, primed and painted it Heirloom White by Rustoleum. Luckily for me, there was already a nice molded box in the middle, so I painted on 3 coats of chalkboard paint. I found some great hooks that I added to the bottom. How cute is this for an entryway? A great place to hang the coats, backpacks, snowpants, etc...while leaving a different note on the chalkboard everyday. Whadda ya think:
I love that I stumbled across this idea and that this hunk of wood isn't in a landfill somewhere, but hanging in my living room!
Have you tried any DIY projects that you've discovered on the web?
